In recent years, multi-tower connected high-rise structures led by architectural design have been increasingly applied, and rigid connection is an inevitable structural form under specific conditions. For complex multi-tower rigid connected high-rises, structural stiffness, including the stiffness of single towers, connecting components and the overall structure, serves as the fundamental basis for the selection of connection forms. In structural design, appropriate conjoined parts, connection types and construction modes should be determined rationally based on stiffness requirements, rather than pursuing excessive stiffness blindly. This paper analyzes the mechanical performance of connected high-rise structures, discusses key design issues and conceptual principles. Taking a practical four-tower conjoined high-rise project as the engineering background, it systematically summarizes technical difficulties and corresponding design countermeasures from the aspects of overall layout, connection structure design, complex joint detailing, seismic performance design and whole-life cycle analysis.
